Operations Update

The Healthy Homes Coalition of West Michigan, like the whole community, has experienced a great deal of change during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are committed to public health and have remained diligent while we adapt our programs and services with safety in mind. This page provides updates on Healthy Home's operations as conditions continue to evolve.

The Healthy Homes offices re-opened at the end of May when the Governor’s stay at home order was lifted, with safety measures in place to limit potential exposures. We currently keep limited office hours, typically 9am - 3pm Monday through Friday. The building is secured and appointments are required so we can ensure staff and public safety. If you need to contact us, please call first.

The Healthy Homes Coalition is still working with families. Virtual visits and video meetings continue to be prioritized to limit in-person interactions. The team is slowly and safely beginning to re-engage families with the safety of the community of the highest importance. Please see this memo for how we are working to keep families safe when making essential visits.

During the pandemic, we have had a practice of keeping our staff and families safe. The Healthy Homes Coalition suspended all home visiting, community outreach activities, and group meetings on March 13. Beginning Monday, March 23, Healthy Homes staff transitioned to working from home. During that time, the team compiled tips and advice on how to stay safe at home and how to make children’s homes healthier, worked on launching our home screening program (LINK to blog), conducted extensive quality improvement activities, began conducting virtual home visits with families, and started to address our technological needs. We have been working hard to adapt and come out of this experience stronger and more effective.

One of our top priorities throughout has been to maintain our organization's financial and operational health in the light of the pandemic. We are doing everything we can, from controlling expenses to tapping federal relief resources. Know that we are continually managing our financial health to ensure that we are not short-sighted in these trying times.
